The Jim Clark legacy

The Clark hospitality venue takes its name from legendary Scottish racing driver Jim Clark. Widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers of his era, Clark won two Formula 1 World Championships and the 1965 Indianapolis 500. He also achieved success in sports cars, saloon cars and rallying.

Clark was a regular competitor at Goodwood. He won the circuit’s final two Formula 1 races in 1964 and 1965 and shares its historic lap record of 1 minute 20.4 seconds with fellow Scot Sir Jackie Stewart.

The John Surtees legacy

This exceptional Festival of Speed experience is named in honour of John Surtees. Before moving into car racing in 1960, Surtees had already become a seven-time motorcycle world champion and won six Isle of Man TT races.

Four years after switching to cars, he won the 1964 Formula 1 World Championship. In doing so, he became the first—and remains the only—person to win world championships on both two and four wheels.

Surtees was also a lifelong friend of Goodwood. In 1993, he became a patron of the Festival of Speed, further strengthening his lasting connection with the event.
